Interferometric Studies on the Concentration Variations around a Growing Protein Crystal
نویسنده
چکیده
The concentration fluxes in the vicinity of protein crystals growing from its aqueous solution has been investigated using laser based interferometric technique. A Mach-Zehnder interferometer has employed for the experimentation. Lysozyme (Hen-Egg-White) has used as the protein, where sodium chloride (Nacl) is used as the precipitant and Sodium acetate (CH3COONa) as buffer. A test cell with dimensions 22.5 mm of height and 24 mm of width made up of high quality optical glass has used as the test chamber, so as to make optical measurements feasible. The Lysozyme crystals have inserted into the supersaturated solution inside the test chamber to initiate the growth process. Wedge fringe interferograms has been employed to retrieve the concentration gradients around the crystal during the growth/dissolution process. The results from the experiments are summarized in the form of interferograms during the growth/dissolution process, two dimensional concentration gradients around the crystal etc.,

Analysis of Protein Concentration Based on Photonic Crystal Ring Resonator
In this paper, homogeneous, wavelength shift biosensor is designed for sensing the protein concentration using two dimensional Photonic Crystal Ring Resonator (PCRR). The sensor is designed to monitor the protein concentration from 0% to 100%. The proposed sensor is composed of periodic Si rods embedded in an air host with a circular PCRR that is placed between the inline quasi waveguides. It i...
متن کاملHOW THE KONDO EFFECT CAN EXIST IN Gd INTERMETALLIC COMPOUNDS
Based on the crystal and magnetic structural properties of some Gd intermetallic compounds, it is shown that with increasing conduction electron concentration, Gd experiences electronic and magnetic instability, and that these behaviors point to the appearance of Kondo Lattice. We suggest that the conduction electrons have gained local character. It is shown that Kondo effect should be observed...
متن کاملExperimental evidence for the stability of the depletion zone around a growing protein crystal under microgravity.
Experimental evidence is presented for the first time for the development and time evolution of concentration-depletion zones around protein crystals growing in microgravity and gelled on-ground experiments. Crystal motion and buoyancy-driven fluid movements as a result of residual accelerations and g-jitters are demonstrated to have an adverse effect on the stability of these depletion zones, ...
متن کاملInvestigation of Cytocidal Activity of Bacillus Thuringiensis Parasporal Toxin on CCRF-CEM Cell Line
Background & Objective: Parasporin is a parasporal protein of Bacillus thuringiensis and exhibits special cytocidal activity against human cancer cells. Similar to other insecticidal Bacillus thuringiensis crystal toxins, parasporin shows target specificity and damages the cellular membrane. In this study, different strains of Bacillus thuringiensis isolated from various regions of Iran and the...
متن کاملEffect of Dietary Crude Protein Level on UT-B Expression and Nitrogen Efficiency in Growing Baluchi Male Lambs Fed Low or High Concentrate Diets
An experiment was carried out to evaluate how interactions between forage to concentrate ratio and dietary crude protein level may alter nitrogen efficiency and UT-B expression in growing Baluchi male lambs. Four Baluchi male lambs [30 ± 2 kg BW] were used in a 4 × 4 latin square design with 28-d periods and a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement of dietary treatments. The treatments fed forage: concent...
